#1 exhaust system for 2+2 auto : does Barratt kit BSSJR019 fit?

Post by rolando38 » Wed Feb 25, 2015 5:22 pm

hello

my exhaust does not seems to be original and certainly detracts performance, if not more
it is made of 2 pipes coming out of exhaust manifolds, joined into one pipe, and then only one silencer, then split into 2 end-pipes

Image

I understand the reason of this is to avoid the auto gearbox sump, but there must be another solution

my question : does the Barratt BSSJR019 kit , very different in appearance, fit the car ? (in particular does it allow to remove the sump without having to remove the exhaust !)
Image
could any other 2+2 owner publish a picture of their (nice) exhaust ?

many thanks !

I can't speak for the 2+2 kit but I have used 2 of the SMGB Bell SS kits recently. The one for my coupe was a perfect fit and the one for my OTS only needed about 1" trimming off the back end of the header pipes.

I find the standard Bell 1 3/4" system on the coupe very quiet, almost too quiet. I bought the "Sports" 1 3/4" system for the OTS and it is louder and really gives you the beautiful straight six "snarl" at 3000 rpm which the coupe lacks.

thanks Andrew

apparently there is a big price difference here between standardSS steel Bel @612? and the "big bore" equivalent @1454? , though
did you experience such a difference down yunder ?

Both my systems are 1 3/4". One has louder mufflers.

I don't bother buying in Australia; it all comes air freight from the UK at about half what I could buy it for locally.
