Air conditioner drips
#1 Air conditioner drips
Sometimes when I run the A/C it drips cold water onto my dear wife's feet, which is somewhat disconcerting to her. I suspect that it is supposed to drain the condensate through some kind of tube to the outside, but where would that be? Perhaps that drain tubing is blocked? Where do I look?

#2 Can't find any drain tube
I spent some time under the dash over the weekend searching underneath the a/c unit trying to find any kind of drain for the condensate, but cannot find anything. I assume that is because it was not designed to have one. Has anyone run into this already, and have you come up with a possible solution for this? The only solution I have thought of is, one, to keep a Tupperware dish under the dash to collect the drips, or, two, to drill a hole at the low point, which is in the fan housing, and glue a tube there and run it through the firewall, which seems right off hand to be pretty radical.

Mark,
If your a/c is like mine and you can't find the condensation drain tubes then it's no wonder your wife's feet stay wet! There should be two drain tubes off the rear lower edge of the evaporator case each one runs out through a hole. I think I remember the holes are located near/through the front bulkhead and near/through the front tunnel structure. I have a picture that might be helpful but can't see how to post it here. I will try to send it pm.

#5 dripping A/c
My '70 roadster did that from new. As indicated, the wife/girlfriend was not pleased as not only is it wet, it's cold and wet.
The solution that I came up with was to add an additional drain right at the center, bottom of the fiberglass housing for the A/C fan. That stopped most of it, with emphasis on "most".
The problem was that the drains in the housing for the inside coil are higher than that point where the fan is and so, when it fills up, the fan catches the water and the wife/girlfriend is unhappy. There probably is some kind of "dam" in the housing between the area of the coil and the area of the fan but it obviously is not enough. It couldn't be sealed as the air blown by the fan has to be able to reach it some how. I always suspected that left turns and/or bumps made it worse but did not disassemble the A/C unit to try to fix it from there as the extra drain was much simpler.
I routed the extra drain hose through one of the plug holes that I found in the floor on that side.
