#1 Fixing foam seal onto the radiator

Hi chaps,
I've purchased the missing foam seal that sits on top of the radiator from Barrat's but I'm unsure how it should be fixed; I'm not keen on splurging contact adhesive all over the top of the radiator if it's not how it should be done!
Any advice form the wise sages here please?
Many thanks in advance.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer, but I'm in the midst of trying to find something that works too.
I would avoid anything that permanently bonds the foam to the radiator. So far I've looked at double-sided tape on the upright side-sections of the radiator (haven't yet found anything strong enough to stick to the radiator), and stick-on Velcro strips in the same places (again, getting it to stick to the radiator is the problem).
An alternative would be to hollow out slightly the back of the pad?
I think the fact that they're so hard to get to sit still goes some way towards explaining why you hardly ever see them!

By design, or as in 'is there a risk that it'll end up stuck to the underside of the bonnet'?
It's definitely meant to sit on top of the radiator, but from a few trial runs to date it doesn't seem inclined to stick to the bonnet - just doesn't want to stay put in place on the radiator that's all!

Hi Paul
Mine is a series 2 and the foam piece is very well held on by double sided tape. I didn't fit it, it came that way when I imported it from the USA four years ago. I have removed it a couple of times since then when working on the radiator and steering rack but it went straight back on using the same tape and shows no sign of detaching. The tape is brown coloured and is not unlike gaffa tape in that it has a webbed core, maybe one of our US based members may know who makes it. I can send you a photo if you need one.
It shows no sign of sticking to the bonnet either and the car doesn't overheat so I guess it's doing its job as designed. The only overheating I've ever experienced was when I wired the fans in backwards, probably something to do with age, mine, not the fans!
