#1 soft top colour

Post by yev » Wed Jan 06, 2016 10:03 pm

just received heritage certificate for my S2 OTS.
original colour is light blue (think will stick with that) and grey interior.
soft top colour is not recorded.
what colour do you think soft top would have been with this car? black maybe?
i also have black factory hard top,so should i go for black soft? anyone had experience with light blue OTS?
thanks!

Check out this thread

And this site

Otherwise stand back and wait for replies saying it's your car so it's up to you to choose the colours you like :D

If the car was mine, I'd go with black all day long.

Some statistics from Anders Clausager for the 1,755 S2 cars with 'Light Blue' paint:

Most common trim: Black, Light Blue, Dark Blue
Most common hood colours: Black, Blue
Number of cars with Black trim: 182
Number of cars with Dark Blue trim: 1440
Grey trim: "was probably a special order"
Total number of S2's (all colours) with Grey trim: 154
Special Order Hood colours: Beige, Grey

Your car was almost certainly a special order with the Grey trim so you might want to consider a grey hood which it most probably had originally. It would also look superb and I doubt you will find another in that combination!

thanks all. will have to think re:hood colour!
looks like the car was purchased by US serviceman stationed in Spain and collected by him from Coventry (apparently he drove it down to Spain) so it was originally registered in UK on G plate so he can drive it away, before being exported to Spain and then on to US.
now it is back where its belongs.
so she is LHD roadster registered in UK from NEW. wonder how may of them in existence?
do you recon DVLA will give me back original reg plate? i have it on heritage certificate?

I agree. IMO anything else looks odd.
