Hello
I recently experienced an unusual sudden blackout when going over a speed bump
by blackout I mean that the engine immediatley stalled -not pleasant with an auto box- and when trying to start again the starter woud not go

after shaking the cables going from the battery to the starter I was able to start again a few minutes latern, but again same thing happened a few miles later ; then did 200 miles without prblem

any idea where I should start my investigations ?

thanks

Hi Ronaldo...start with the cable connections that you had to shake to get it going again

And the main engine earth cable that goes from the left side of the reaction tie plate to the rear left of the engine block.

thanks Steve and Andrew; will investigate those cables and connections more in depth
there's no "inertia switch" or the like in theE-type ? (on my Stag I had an inertia switch that would shut down everything in case of shock but was defective)

No, there's no inertia switch unless someone has fitted one.

I had this on another make of car and it was the main ignition feed from the switch to a bullet connector. A real pita to find, but likely to be just one connection at fault.
