Howdy,
I need some help with some orphan wires (flagged with tape) I found behind the dash of my 72 S3 2+2.
The only electrical system that doesn't appear to be working is the handbrake warning light.
I'm a complete novice at electrical and was hoping someone had an idea of what these might be for and where they should connect?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Mark

Additionally, this is a US spec car with AC.
Thanks again!

Mark,
below is a picture of the wiring of my '72 S3, maybe it helps. On first sight, I looks like someone has removed the black/white wire from the rightmost switch and replaced it with the black wire. Also, the isolation on that wire looks different from the rest.

Thank you Manfred!
I'll see if I can track down where that 'new' black wire runs to.
It looks like you have two similar white orphan orphan wires as my car. Maybe they are for a component neither of us have on our cars?
Thanks again for your help. It looks like maybe I just have one mystery to solve instead of three.

Hello Mark,
In a 2+2 S3. the Right most rocker switch is usually for a Heated Rear Hatch Door Window; in an OTS its vacant for the control of some optional item.
I believe if you were to trace the White Wire it will terminate at F7 Fuse via an Inline Fuse. If its connected to the F7 fuse and both it and the Inline Fuse are OK, it will carry 12VDC (you can check this with a Multi-meter). The White Wire with Black Trace should head off towards the Back of the Car. There will be a number of connectors this wire will encounter, so it may only go so far and stop if the car is not equipped with a Heated Rear Window.
Regards,
Bill

Thanks to all.
The wires were for the heated rear window, which had been pulled and the switch connected to the engine fan. The car came from Palm Springs so I guess the PO thought controlling the engine cooling was better than heating the rear window.
Thanks again!
