Hi all,
My car is OEW has been since it was imported back from the US in the '90s. However, I'm curious about the original colour, I haven't got a heritage certificate yet which would confirm the colour. In the meantime thought I'd check under the rear seat and floorpans, but I'm not sure if this would be body colour? Were the cars painted inside with body colour or just a flashed protective finish?
Many thanks

Kevin

Thanks Steve, heather is what I first thought and indeed that same colour is behind the drop down panel for the fuses. However, according to the sticker on the B Post my car is March 72, and the passport to Service document says delivery July 72. Also, my understanding was that heather was a September 72 on colour so couldn't be the original colour. It is laid quite thin and that got me thinking that maybe this is just some form of protective anti corrosion finish to the body?

Hi
I wouldn’t take too much notice of the ‘official’ date/paint colour lists for the EType. For example, my car left the factory in OPalescent Golden Sand in Nov ‘63. This colour is not ‘listed’ as a standard E Type paint option until 1965. You could specify any Jag colour that was available and OGS was available on saloons from the early 60’s so could be specified for etypes. It sounds like yours should be heather but the heritage cert will confirm this.

Thanks Richard, heather is an eye catching colour. Quite a bold choice for someone.
