#1 Series 3 E-Type

Post by chris420sa » Sat May 10, 2025 10:19 am

Dear Member
Just a note of possible caution. I recently had my lower wishbone bushes replaced on both sides of the car.
I was advised by my mechanic who has done quite a lot of work on the car over the last 8 years to purchase the most expensive bushes C8673# at £20.17 each from SNGB. Unfortunately only 3 of this type were in stock at the time and delivered to me so I also had to purchase the lower cost option C8673* at £4.09 each. My mechanic fitted the 3 expensive bushes but, at the time, had no choice other than to fit one of the C8673* bushes. On using the pusher to fit that bush, the bush split - fortunately that was not repeated when he pushed the next lower cost bush into place BUT I do think that serves as something of a warning to others. My mechanic is anti the polyurethane bushes but I have no desire to get into that discussion!

Martin Robey has been advertising C8673M as a Branded Metelastik embossed option....so should be as Original? https://www.martinrobey.com/jaguar/clas ... ion/122310

Horses for courses. I am a big fan of using polyurethane bushes where appropriate. Imo Polyurethane is NOT appropriate for bushes that are dimensionally the same design as C8673.

The only lower wishbone bush I can find on the Martin Robey website for a Series 3 is C8673# at about £4 inc VAT. Would seem to me to be the same as the lowest cost option supplied by SNGB (made in India apparently).
C8673M would not seem to be the correct bush for the Series 3 per the list of applications on the MR website?
