#1 power steering
Hi
I seen mentioned a couple of times that one can get the overly light Series 3 steering rack revalved.
Does anyone out there know who does this? I live in London so preferably not a company north of the Humber.
Cheers

Give Harry a call as no doubt he can put you in touch with someone locally.

The owner of this site and also the proprietor of E-Type UK (try clicking on the black and red logo at the top left of the page). Don't worry about not knowing this as Harry, to his credit, goes out of his way to keep the forum as vendor independent as possible - something which is clearly working!
Another possibility is the Rob Beere adjustable power steering modification: http://www.rob-beere-racing.co.uk/xjs-p ... ml#powerst which seems good value at ?159. Let us know how you get on, feedback is always valuable.

Many thanks for the response and the Rob Beere item.
Interestingly the XK's Unlimited has the same bit of kit for $499 so the Rob Beere price is fantastic value.
I have a spare steering rack so had thought to get this overhauled, hoping to get the valving sorted to get more feel and reinstall with upgraded mounts that I have seen mentioned in some articles.
Have you or any one out there experience of upgraded mounts and who supplies them.
I will provide feedback when I get this figured out.
Cheers

Lots of different views on 'upgraded' steering rack mounts. Some swear by the solid billet versions, others by the poly ones. On the other hand Jaguar and Norman Dewis spent thousands of hours developing the E-Type and clearly did not think them worth while as they were never fitted by the factory. Give CMC a call as they do their own steering rack mounts which retain the metalastic suspension but use modified safety bolts to limit movement. I have these fitted and they are a huge improvement over the solid bushes I had previously. Steering is smooth and precise, superb feedback but no wrist jarring, thumb straining kick-back on uneven roads (which makes up the majority of everyday motoring!). With the Rob Beere item fitted you should have the best of all worlds.

Sorry not to respond earlier.
Many thanks for the suggested CMC rack mount.
In a fit of eagerness I have already purchsed a set of uprated poly mounts from SNG Barratt. Fingers crossed they add some feel back.
Cheers
