Hi
I am looking to buy new front seat belts for my series 3, 2+2, October 1971.
I am wanting to fit belts that are correct for the period. I have researched and found the car probably had static belts. But I have found conflicting info about the buckle type. i.e. metal pull buckle or a plastic looking one.
Does any one have any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
kind regards Tim

Hi Tim
My S3 2+2 was built at the end of Nov 71 so not far behind yours. It has Kangol (the plastic looking ones) static belts. I understand that Britax (the metal looking ones) were also used on early S3s. Kangol Reflex inertia belts were an option using the same mounting points. In 1972 the mountings were moved to the B pillar and a flexible stalk was introduced at the transmission tunnel end. If you want any pictures of mine let me know.
Hope this helps
Bob

My Aug 71 build had the Kangol type - black plastic latch and chrome steel J hook - manual lap sash belts that constantly gets tangled.
