Heater: I have recently purchased a new heater control unit (C.34691). The capillary is pre-formed. Do I need to make any adjustments to the capillary before fitting as it looks very different to that shown in the workshop manual? Any other advice on this would be helpful.
Cooling system: The manual says to add two sachets of Bars Leaks to the cooling system when re-filling. Seems to me that sachets are no longer available, only liquid form. Bars Leaks bottle (about 130 ml) says it's OK for up to 12 litres capacity but Series 3 is about 20 litres. Do I need to 2 such bottles. Advice would be most appreciated.

Dear Chris,
It doesn't matter what shape the capillary tube is. All that matters is that it is in roughly the same place as it was before so that it picks up the temperature of the airflow in much the same way as before.
Bar's Leaks is a compound which acts to seal up small orifices which are open to the air. Put another way, it slowly clogs up your radiator just as much as it coagulates and stops any pinhole leaks if there aren't any. Like all additives that are a quick fix, it is best avoided until it becomes some sort of last resort before you bitye the bullet and actually fix the problem
kind regards
Marek

Listen to Marek...he is about as knowledgeable on E-types as they come, especially Series 3. He is spot on regarding Bar's....it will eventually clog up your radiator....stay away.
