where is my old V12 roadster
#1 where is my old V12 roadster
As is the want, sometime middle aged lmen let their minds turn to past loves and whilst looking for some photos of an old RS2000 I have just found a batch of photos of my V12 series 3 in lavender. I happen to love the colour by the way. I bought this with 12,000 miles from a friend who had it from new l and like a fool I sold it in 1987. It was on a personal plate but when I sold it went onto something like SBD...M, where are you now. First owner was a Graham Galliers of Shrewsbury and supplied by either Shrewsbury Motors or Kennings, and I think she is a 73, maybe a 74. Manual with factory Wire wheels. Would love to have it back. Cannot be that many in lavender with dark blue leather, can there?

hello Andrewh,
was it a roadster or 2+2 ?
if you still have the VIN N? you could search on www.xkedata.com
Even if you do not have it you could do a search and look for cars entered with lavender blue color;
hope you find it !
best wishes
Phil

well, I was to quick in asking, the answer was in the title of the topic...
I had a quick look on xkedata an found only one lavender LHD OTS
www.xkedata.com/cars/detail/?car=1S2081
there is still hope as this car was identified as turquoise.
keep checking as maybe the color was not entered in the data or the car might appear on the site one day
best regards
Philippe

Ihave now found out a bit more about my old V12 OTS. It was supplied by Henleys of Manchester and was on either, YVM 5 M, YVM 3M or YVM 338M. You may ask why 3 different possibilities but thats down to the nephew of the first owner who has a very good memory for car plartes, but not that good!! So maybe I can find the chassis number as it could be registered with JDHT on the car reg number. I am going to post a photo later on . Must be out there somewhere!

You can check out the registration number and car details with the DVLA: http://tinyurl.com/a9n9jm
You can then check to see if it is road legal for insurance/MOT here: http://www.askmid.com/

I found the chassis number which is 1S2299. Car was lavender as stated and was originally on registration YVM5M. When I bought it it was on a personal plate and I cannot recall whether it went back on to YVM5M. The dvla does not have a record so its either not registered or on a diffent plate. Anyone know it please?

Looking good Andrew.
The only thing you can do is to find someone in the Insurance industry and befriend them.
They are able to check with the DVLA for a small fee and get names and addresses of keepers. But if the information is used and you get your cover blown the authorities will know who made the enquiry and get into serious trouble

If you use ASKMID you will find 99 JGG is now on a XJS convertible and YVM 5M is not registered.

Thanks guys. Yes thepersonal plate is still with the original owner who I know as he was a family friend. Sadly back in 1988 it was not the norm to register cars back onto their original plate once a personal number came off which is why YVM5M is dead currently.
Lee, why do you think an insurance company would be able to find it? Can they search by chassis number or would they be able to trace the car from the old personal plate? I am surprised that I cannot recall the last plate it was on... I must be going senile! It must be there somewhere. :(

DVLA/ins company should be able to find it given a chassis number.
I'll ask my ins friend.
Have you tried doing an HPI/Equifax check. These can be done using chassis number only.
Give me a minute and I'll see.

as a matter of interest, that definitley ties up as GC is the prefix used for London South West which is where lived at the time. I took it off the personal plate and put in XGC...intriguing stuff and keeping me busy whilst she who must be obeyed is out shopping.......shoudl be mowing the lawn though!
