Just got back from a hot 200km drive in my S3, but remained nice and cool with my recently installed AC. A mandatory inspection revealed oil forming on the cross bar that is part way along under the motor, as pictured.
Now before I conduct a more detailed examination to see where exactly it may be bleeding from, I thought I’d take the lazy option and ask my fellow learned enthuisiasts if anyone has had the same experience and may be able to pinpoint the source of this bleed?

John - when I read the title of your post, I was going to say "England" - but having read the post itself, I guess that wouldn't be too helpful..... Sorry.... Christmas greeting from over here.... hope you find the source - or the sauce!

First places I would check would be the rubber bung in the hole used to access the timing chain tensioner and the oil filter/oil cooler assembly.

Check the colour of the oil; yellow/brown is engine, red (check yours) is steering hydraulic oil ...
If it is steering, check if the steering rack bellows are also full, leaking oil?
