#1 Electrical fault in the Dashboard, Series 3 OTS UK Spec.

I have a really annoying fault.....somewhere. Currently the clock, cigar lighter, map light, interior light, dash lights will not work. These all appear to go through the same fuse which is fine. I have checked with a voltmeter and there is no power at the fuse. I have traced back to see if there are any loose connections , none found. Anyone, any ideas as this is doing my head in!!! Help!!

The fuses have to be powered at one side, by - in the case of ignition dependent circuits - a white wire, and in the case of constantly powered circuits by a green wire . First, however, check that the fuse holder is thoroughly clean, because they do get a deposit on them over the years which prevents current flowing because of high resistance

F3 is the fuse in question. It has two brown wires on one side, one comes directly from the battery and the other powers your headlights and side lights. Do your headlights work? If yes, then you should have +12 volts on the "brown" side of F3. If no, then there's a problem with the connection back to the battery stud.
If your headlights do work, then check the fuse for continuity and corrosion.

Have you checked the post in the engine bay where the battery plus connects to wiring harness ? Just above the generator charging "relay".
A partially bad connection here could be your issue, but I'd expect other circuits to not work as well.
