EFI fuel pump

The sticker says Lucas 4FP Fuel Pump, the stamping on the casing says Bosch … made in France. Worked fine when last used 4ish years ago but now petrol sprays out everywhere, from where the aluminum casing is crimped onto the plastic outlet end. Cut it open to see what was the problem, nothing, except there is a casing o-ring gone hard, so no longer seals.
Is this a known problem? How can such a design, unserviceable, that matures into a potential Molotov cocktail, be allowed by any design safety standard?
I note SNGB sell 3 versions of these, priced between GBP 31 and 229. I wonder if they know what is the o-ring seal material?

Looking on the Interwebs it seems that you need 3 bar and 150l/hr for a pump equivalent to the 4FP. Inlet is 12mm outlet is 7.7mm.

Petrol dissolves just about everything but rubber, so the o ring will most likely be buna N nitrile.

This is not my area of expertise but I bet you could buy one from Repco or Super Cheap without difficulty.
It amazes me that fuel pumps don't explode every day!
