#1 Air leak at Carb gasket

Post by Ikebaddog » Fri Nov 15, 2024 2:34 pm

Hi all, and good afternoon….. my ‘71 series 3 has been running a bit lumpy for a while now, I wouldn’t call it as a misfire, it’s just not as smooth as it should be, after changing all the usual suspects, I was spraying some carb cleaner around the carbs whilst at tick over, noticed that revs would increase and smooth out when spray around the left hand pair of carbs, only for a second or so, but really quite obvious…… long story short, decided to change the gaskets on that side, now I’ve read horror stories about removing the carbs….. then I found a post by Marek about removing the whole intake…… I had to sacrifice the two little hoses either side of the intake….. but it took me just over an hour to get the carbs onto the kitchen table!!!!
And I’m old, got arthritis and I’m very disorganised…. Cheeses Marek, you are a life saver!!
