#1 Weeping Thermostat Housing

The nearside thermostat housing on my series 3 is weeping. On start up there is smoke coming from the nearside housing and area under the front Carb. Once hot the smoke stops, it is water/coolant as I can smell that sweet smell of antifreeze. I am assuming that once hot and the thermostat is open, with pressure reduced, the leak stops. I have ordered a new gasket and three retaining screws/bolts and washers. In addition I have ordered some Blue Hylomar gasket sealant. Has anyone used this before. How much do you use and do you use it on both sides of the gasket.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks for the tip Neil.
However, I now have a tube of the paste.
But good to know it's available as an aerosol.
