Where the centre bonnet latch mounts.
Anyone else experienced this?
Not sure why this is loaded, maybe I need to adjust my bonnet latches ...?

I experienced the same issue. I repaired it and reinforced this area with an angle plate...hopefully problem solved.

I do not have this on my car.

I wonder if this is a result of jacking the car at the front jacking points so the entire engine, front suspension is hanging off the firewall sags just a little putting load on the bonnet hook - trying to pull forward so pulling out that bit of metal.

How about this scenario?
Plan is to open the bonnet to the vertical position. Long enough chain is connected between the bonnet safety latch bracket and the little grill area of the bonnet. Bonnet is opened but gets away from the person opening it as the CofG goes forward of the pivots and bonnet snaps vertical, putting shock loading on scuttle area at latch mount. Bracket is bent absorbing some of the energy but tensile strength of sheet metal is exceeded and forward facing tear results.
