#1 S3 final drive colour?

Post by panamacarrera » Sun Mar 07, 2021 8:46 am

Simple question... what colour were the diff casings on early S3's?

Mine has remnants of something like red lead colour, but I've heard they were originally black. I can't find anything in the reference books I have, or in JCNA judges guide.

My Jul 71 OTS is red lead in colour with dabs of black paint covering bits of it. Not sure if the red lead had been overpainted in black and some of the black has come off but it does look as if there are just black dabs on top of the red lead colour.

Diffs were normaly painted inside and out with Glyptol (red) then over painted black......unfortunatly Glyotol isnt a great base for paint so usually quita a lot of the black can wear off......Search Glyptol here plenty of info...Steve
