Installing sugar scoops on bonnet
#1 Installing sugar scoops on bonnet
I had My 1981 etype series 3 painted anc am in the process of putting back the trim windows and chrome parts but was hoping some one could help me in reinstalling the sugar scoops. I purchased the proper poop rivets with the washes and trim support rings and could use a good photo of two of the spacing of the rivets my scoops hag a lot of previous holes drill in them from a previous repair and it’s a bit confusing now and I don’t want to drill the wrong holes in the fresh painted bonnet . Any help would be appreciated ! Thank you

Hi,
It would be great if you could create a signature block with your name and E-type model in it, helpful too.
Here are some photos of my scoops from installation on my S3. They are held in place with grip pins in the rivet holes.
Regards,
Simon

Thank you for your great photos of the sugar scoops , were did you get the proper pop rivets and do you know the parts # for them? . I already purchase two different sized ones from Moss and British parts Northwest and neither are the correct ones for the sugar scoops and the trim.
I did try to post my personal info and couldn't figure were I do that on the web site. Can you tell where I do that too?
Thank you again for any help.

Hi Brian,
Nice to meet you and the car looks great, welcome. I bought rivets about 15 years ago, but pretty sure it was from SNG Barratt I. Almost everything else was from there. I think I may have used tiny washers under the Clips/buttons/washers to allow the trim to clip on more easily. It was a long time ago.
Part numbers from SNG:
Rivets:
BD31095/1
BD31095/2
Clips/buttons/washer (depending what you call it):
AW105/T
To add a signature, tap your user name, (top right), then tap User control panel, then Profile and there should be an edit signature option.
Hopefully that helps

Simon

Thank you David I will try t get them from them using those # s. I did get one scoop on with the rivet clips and washers I already had purchased, but the trim doesn't want to slip on to the new rivet head. I think the newer seal is much thicker than the original one I took off. Any ideas on that problem?

Hi Brian,
I can’t really add much more, it was so long back. I remember it being difficult and I bent one of the trim pieces trying to use too much force. Fortunately it was only at the back that the bend occurred, the rivet pushed the flanges inward and I was able to very carefully bend them out again, using a screwdriver, they are brass and quite soft. After that I was more gentle and put the rubber mallet I had been using away!
Simon.
