Does anyone get back ache in standard seat. I would like to know of a quality replacement with lower position . Any ideas ?

No back ache here. Seats are fine.

Yes there is a modern option available see below from another poster.

"Hi MX5 seats and fosway runners lower seats a good bit plus the seat goes further back and doesn't rub against hood frame, far more comfortable and keep your original seats in good condition for when you come to sell the car"

If you do a search for lower seats or suchlike, I saw another post re this issue. I also remember seeing a detailed description on how to do another mod to lower the seats.

Had back issues in other cars but never in the etype. What is the scope for lowering? My std seats with new diaphram, when sitting in the seat there is only mm clearance to the carpet...

When replacing floors in S1/S2 2+2 or any S3 cars, we provide the client with a choice of a variety of Cross Brace/Seat Riser heights.

S1 and S2 2+2 cars have the highest seat riser height of all models, to the point where the height can cause difficulty getting in and out of the car due to the clearance between the steering wheel and the seat cushion. Next highest is the S3 2+2, with the S3 OTS having the shortest in height seat riser.

The following picture shows an S2 2+2 that has received new floors and the seat riser the height of the S3 2+2 fitted.

Hi Bill, that explains everything, crossbeams are different heights ...
My OTS, top of cross-beam is 65 mm above the floor, seat diaphragm is only a few mm off the floor.

I have a pair of MX5 Mk1 seats for sale with a set of Fossway runners. If you are interested message me back.

Hi Colin,
Is that with you sitting on the seat, or just with the empty seat? You should have circa 45mm from the top surface of the Seat Riser to the diaphragm and then the 65mm of the Seat Riser to the floor, when there is no load applied to the seat cushion.

With me in the seat. And with everything remotely resembling a spacer removed from the mounting and with slots cut in the hardura floor mats under the carpet so that the runners still slide easily despite this. This was with my old seats. The seats you gave me, haven't tried them yet. Hopefully the same, if not I'll trim the cushions.

I had the lower .squabs restuffed by local sofa upholsterer also add a memory foam cushion from Ebay for lower back. Big improvement. No height issue for me.
