#1 Plate under rear view mirror?

Hi All

I have a 1972 series 3 2+2 I have been restoring, my problem is the area above the windscreen inside the car where the rear view mirror fits the two corners extend 1/2 inch lower that the middle section. Is there another plate or moulding that the roof lining sticks to? I can't see any thing in the parts book.
