#1 Check your fuel hoses that they are for fuel.

I almost had a complete disaster at the weekend following a really great run into our local town of Eccelshall on Sunday for breakfast. Later, I was putting our 1973 Series 3 back into the garage and a trail of clear fluid was noticed. Turned out to be fuel! I checked the engine bay and there was a lot of fluid around the right torsion bar and lower cover. It turned out to be the small hoses that splits the fuel into the front and rear carbs.

It turned out that COHLINE 2337 had been used for the fuel hose which isn't a great idea as its for brake hoses! Could have been made worse by over tightening the jubilee clips and helping the hose to delaminate.

I'm now doing a complete check of the fuel system to make sure I don't have other surprises waiting for us.
I'm using E5, would be interested if everybody is using COHLINE 2240.

Also dont use Jubilee clips on fuel hoses.....use proper fuel hose clamps......Steve.

That's a good point. Looks like jubilees were originally fitted but so easy to over tighten them.
