The 'carpet' that extends behind the seats up to the rear window of my S3 OTS has been severely sunbleached and I wonder if anyone has had the same problem and how they dealt with it without replacing it.
i.e. Dye?
If so, any particular type of dye?

The "cheat " is to mask it off and use and aerosol can of normal automotive paint.
Woolies Trim sell "Jaguar Red" that should be an acceptable match to most Jaguar interiors used in the 60's and beyond.

Its true, but Enzo never said it

My understanding, that I'd love to have corrected:
Dye versus coating (painting):
What is sold as dye is often just paint.
Dye comes in bottles, paints come in cans.
Dyeing spruces up an existing colour, painting changes colour.
Dyeing only works on wool or nylon carpets, soak a sample in bleach overnight, if it is bleached it is dyeable, otherwise not. I tried it on a bit of original flock carpet, bleach had no effect, concluded that original Jaguar carpets cannot be dyed.
There are paints specially formulated for carpet ...

Thank you to James and Colin for their replies to my post.
So, the conclusion is that the carpet cannot be dyed but can be painted, with the right paint!
I will search for carpet paint, the next obstacle will be colour.
Many thanks
