#1 S3 OTS body jig dims

Post by Fspp369 » Mon Oct 24, 2022 3:06 pm

Could one of the members kindly send me a link to a diagram or list of dimensions of the body please.
Mounting points, reference points, distance between chassis features…. That sort of thing .
I want to check a few things before it’s off to the spray booth!
Thanks in advance.
Peter. :drinkingcheers:

Hello Peter,
As Steve suggests, the dimensions are listed, along with a drawing, in the S3 Repair Operation Manual. However, there are numerous mistakes in this manual, so don't take the listed dimensions as being Gospel and check the dimensions against a vehicle if you can. I know that at least dimension "X" is incorrect and there may be others.

The dimensions listed for the Rear Wishbone is another obvious error; the dimensions are for an XJS Wishbone, not an S3 E Type.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks Bill, this is the sort of thing I am coming across.
I posted the query because some of the dimensions I’ve taken do not agree with the book,, only simple ones so far!.
I have set up a multi laser system down to 0.5mm, but I’ve a feeling this is very much overkill given 70’s assembly techniques !!!
Whilst I have the car “bare” and not knowing it’s detailed “daily” history I thought I’d take the chance to check everything….bit of a nerd with such things …hey ho :studyinggray:
