#1 Oil Filter (again)

Hello,
I rebuilt my engine a few years ago and now worried that the rear seal will have dried out. The engine is not back in the car yet so I thought that I would tilt it right back and overfill with oil, then after a couple of days fit the starter and crank it (fingers crossed)
My problem is that I am confused how the oilf filter seals. I have (not painet yet) the canister but I cant see how I seal under the large washer. I have checked the parts CD that I have and it shows a small seal, however I still cant see how it would seal under the large washer??
