#1 timing chain guides adjustment

Hi all,

after having traced water ingress (liners), it was decided to rebuild the engine. Now I am about to start the assembly. My first question (of quite a few to come I suppose) is:
timing chain guides adjustment: the special tool from Rob Beere is rather expensive - is there another way to adjust the guides to avoid a rattling chain?

Thank you
Mark

On the basis that the ones you have at the moment are original and in the right place, replace like with like by putting a shim in against the chain between the ungouged part of the guide and the chain and score the front of the block with a scribe. Other than that, the special tool would be the only other way and it is doing exactly the same job anyway.

kind regards
Marek
