A question for 2+2 drivers.
Why do you own/drive an S3 2+2? My excuse is I am tall (190cm/6'3") plus we have a couple of Labradors we can throw in the back for trips to the beach.
What is your reason?

Its cheaper and tall europeans fit. An overdrive is a nice option.

All the E-Type experience but at a far lower initial cost and much improved luggage/carrying capacity.
I’ve driven mine over 80,000 miles, its total mileage is now over 220,000.

220,000 miles. Wow, that is not what I expected. Ours should be virtually a daily driver during the warmer months but I doubt it will ever reach that mileage.

Because the S3 2+2 is the best looking?
Ok. I’ll duck for cover and I recognise it will be a stretch for some, but I grew up when the V12 cars were current and I was always happy with the styling, feeling that the arches and grill, together with wide track and tyres, made the styling more balanced than other 2+2s and to my younger self, as handsome, if not perhaps as pretty, as an S1 coupe. I never noticed, nor disliked the apparently awkward roof shape.
Oh yes, of course it’s a V12 and again, my younger self actually believed all E-types were the same, at least until I grew up a little and learned about twin overhead camshafts (don’t judge me, I was very young and my Dad knew zip about cars!)
In an ideal world I’d add an S3 convertible and an S1 coupe to the garage but that’s never going to be possible for my income!
All E-types are beautiful, please don’t try and tell me mine isn’t, which unfortunately, several others have from time to time.

A simple reason for me:
I had a S3 OTS and for me that was the ultimate e-type:
1) Last of the series,
2) Soft top
3) V12,
4) wider stance with the 70’s flares(wheel arches)
5) and of course; *that* fantail exhaust!
Then kids came along and my wife and I never got to go out in it and also got a bit strapped for cash so it was a no brainer really.
How do I get to keep running a V12 *and* take the kids with us???
So I sold the OTS and a week later got my 2+2 for half the price.
Would I swap it back for an OTS?….well maybe….if it didn’t cost so damn much to do it……BUT after so many memories made with the kids in the back and the places we’ve all been as a family, I feel I’d be letting a big part of my life go.
I’ve become so attached to it and through the years done small improvements and now it’s just about how I want it.
Until something else goes wrong!!

In my opinion, it's the best looker ( 2+2 or OTS ) and has the glorious v12
