How does that compare to the 4.2?
This site
https://www.race-dezert.com/forum/threa ... ool.16201/
says re Jaguars in lbs:
Jaguar V12 680 (57)
Jaguar/Orbital 3.2 V6 359 (61) supercharged two stroke
Jaguar 4.2L six 604 (105)
Jaguar XJ220 V6 427 (73) complete w/turbos, wiring
Jaguar AJ6 4.0L 531 (118)
Jaguar AJV8 4.4L 441 (118) "fully dressed"
Jaguar 3.4-liter XK 576 (148) for the 340 sedan, minus fan, air
cleaner, clutch, and transmission, and
without any fluids, but with flywheel,
electrical equipment, and exhaust
manifolds.
Jaguar 3.8 six 592 (148) dress as above
Jaguar 4.2 six 605 (148) dress as above
Jaguar 5.3 V12 612 (148) dress as above
Jaguar 5.3 V12 680 (148) fully dressed for installation
Which I interpret as meaning a 4.2L is 3.3 kg lighter than a 5.3L?

Well I've got the 3.4 from my MK2 in the shed as well.
I'll see if I can weigh it too.

From the S3 Press Release:
Referring to the V12
1. "Only about 80lbs (36kg) more than a 4.2 litre XK six-cylinder unit, both fully equipped"
2. Aluminium block -"Jaguar saved 116lbs. (53kg) by comparison with the same unit in cast iron"
3. "The complete engine weighs only 680lbs. (308kg) with all ancillaries fitted (except the gearbox)"

Butec alternator, air pump and AC compressor weighing over 30 kg, sounds about right ...

The weights of the V12 engine, tranny, and other various and sundry components comes up regularly both here and on Jag-Lovers.
I am nearing the completion of the restoration of my 72 Series III OTS. I made a concerted effort to capture the weights of items as I disassembled and now reassembling the Jag. A few items were already re-installed and I forgot to capture their weight. The IRS remains to be restored
For some reason, the PDF only captured the first of three pages. Anybody know how I can correct this??
