2+2 Hatch Release Trim Ring Help Please

OK, I give up! What’s the trick to putting on the hatch release trim ring. It has a notch that I presume goes to the rear for clearance of the lever portion of the release handle once it’s on, but how is it supposed to go over the handle to be put where it belongs. There has to be a way taking advantage of that notch to get it over the handle, but for the life of me, I haven’t succeeded.

Pointers anyone?

Hi Steve....it does fit but its fiddly....you need to pull the lever and hold it pulled whilst you put the ring on....I cant tell you exactly how but with the lever pulled the slot of the ring slips over the lever....Steve
