Januarys work
#1 Januarys work
Well its cold but reasonably dry so this week a few things to sort out before the coming months. First job is the clutch slave cylinder which spewedforth all over the local road (thank you AA for very quick response) I have made a steel jacking bar which has a fitting for the end of the hydraulic jack, and will be changing the fluid line and bottle at the same time (nice shiney new bracket as well) While Im at it the brake fluid bottle is being changed. Next on the list is a full service (ASDA CASTROL GTX HALF PRICE ?10 FOR 4 Lt) Drain, flush and refill the rad, and sort out the squeel from the front n/s brake (embarressing now) powder coat a few black bits and new intake filters and a bit of tlc to the underside of the bonnet. Really must order two new front carpets as mine were a bit shoddy so I had the great idea of washing them, they promptly fell apart ! I have also just noticed that the end of one of the heater controls has gone walkabout so I need to source a new one ANY IDEAS ? Apart from that will be out and about in Dorset next week

#2 clutch slave
Bloody stupid place to put a slave cylinder, after jacking the car front and back still couldnt get it off so I had to tow it to a local garage and get it on a ramp 5 minutes job done, squeek on brake caused by the pads going rock hard new greenstuff ones fitted so we will see how they get on. all other minor jobs done car is a little lumpy on pulling away which is annoying as I set the carbs up only a few months ago but the linkages are pretty worn so I have started to machine new ones in stainless and have ordered new joints in stainless (I love ss, one polish good for life) rear diff seal nice and dry but I think all shocks are getting a little tired as the car is sitting a little low but that can wait until rear pads need doing and I will drop the whole lot for a paint and polish and a rear brake bleeding mod kit (also being made from stainless)
Never had this aggro with the Morris Minor !!!!

Rear dampers have nothing to do with the car sitting low - that's a spring problem.

Hello jonhall88.
Where would you get stainless steel joints from for the carb linkages, I have often thought of making a new set but do not know where to buy the joints.
Steve.

SNG sell them: http://tinyurl.com/7gb9lh3 , individually if you ask for the part numbers.

Thanks David, but I think they are zinc plated mild steel. I was thinking of making a complete stainless steel set, all I need is the ball joints in stainless as I can fabricate the rest.

#8 throttle linkage ends
I got mine done by a mate of mine in the states, his company is called 'allbright engineering inc' he knocked them out as a favour and the nylon inserts are pressed in. I will ask if he can knock up a few more sets hopefully he would have kept the programme for the cnc. Will keep you updated

I assumed the ones SNG sell (at that price!) are the same as the ones SC Parts offer which are stainless steel:

These are listed for the S1/2, no idea if they do the same for the S3 or whether you could use some of the rods/links
