My new V12 coupe

Hi all,

After years of looking and hundreds spent on multiple PPIs I finally took delivery of my lovely old English white 73 2+2 auto.

A few things were sent I before I took delivery like restuffing of headrests and a good service and all was well with the world.

I'm sure you can all remember the hay that you driver your e type for the first time - just awesome! We then proceeded on our family road trip with my wife and kid all happily squeezd in twith the luggage!

My bubble was quickly burst when some clipped mypax side wing mirror :-(

Fortunatley no serious was damage was done but the wing mirror is now loose and the screw at tyhe front of the mount can neither be tightened nor can I remove it.

I presume that there is a nut in the inside and that I meed to remove the coor trim to get to it?

Does anyone know how I can go about either securing the mirror, or removing it altogether so it doesn't fall off, without removing all the door trim?

I don't really want to open that can of worms whilst we're on our roadtrip as I suspect all the clips/screws will get broken in the process!

I'mhoping not to have to resort to duct tape but there is a roll in the car just in case!

Everything else seems fine other than the wing mirror mount is loose.

Thanks, I managed to get the screw out and realised that there is no nut, it just screws directly to bodywork. The hole had been made to large by the clipping so I used a helicoil as a temporary fixed, no secure again :-)

A Helicoil in thin gauge sheet metal? You should have worked at Browns Lane :-) Enjoy the car.
