Hi, can anybody please give me some advice?!? I came to move my car when I noticed it was almost touching the ground. Immediately I realised torsion bar had snapped clean in half : / I've been quoted ?324+vat is this reasonable? Also are they easy to change etc?
Cheers Ian

Checked a couple of the "usuals" GBP470 including VAT.
I've just reinstalled the torsion bars on my FHC. Not complex but you do have to remove the front hub assembly and shock. The process for getting the bars in correctly is well described in the manual.
Essentially you use a link of specified length in place of the shock to position the lower wishbone correctly when the bar has no torque on it.
I had my car on a hoist which probably made things a little easier.

Make sure that any info. you get is for the S3. People wrongly assume that all three series are the same, they are not.
Do you have the ROM? Is your chassis no. pre or post 1s50064?(there are two different methods). If post do you have access to special tool JD43? Note that the setting links are different lengths for pre & post the above chassis no.
If you can't get hold of JD43 there is a work-round.
