#1 Absorption Canister?

Post by Mountain King » Mon May 19, 2014 3:53 pm

the two small circular "things" attached to the air filter housings near the front where it goes into the bellows. Is it an absorption canister?

What exactly is it and what does it do?

thanks

Look inside the airbox and you'll see it is connected to that round thing.

What it does is take airbox air through temperature switch (embossed with "AC Delco") inside the airbox and control a flap in the airbox inlet to mix cold air from the trumpet with hot air from the exhaust manifold to control the air temperature going into the engine.

It'll eventually be a source of vacuum leaks and you can leave it plugged and disconnected if you so wish.

kind regards
Marek

Thanks Marek,
There is no mention of this in either the parts or service manual that I could find.
Also if it is a vacuum hose mine is definitely not functioning as it would collapse readily as it is so soft.

Cheers
