with the rear cage completely rebuilt the diff turned nicely before assembly, should you be able to manually turn the diff using discs when fully assembled but off the car with no weight on driveshafts etc

Absolutely unbelievable !!! nearside hub which was perfectly ok was found to be seized, so a slight delay as I have rebuilt it but have run out of grease, still better it happened when irs was down. Now turns nicely
