Covered in general topic but this is for a ser 3
I was with Footman James but found this year the price had doubled with no reasons being given. I have just insured with Admiral for ?147 that includes legal and protected no claims bonus, clean licence and 9 years plus ncb.
Ser 3 2+2 E type with only modifications being a wood steering wheel, a Thatcham 1 alarm / immobiliser and fossway remote bleed lines. Car was totally rebuilt some 10 yrs ago with all new panels / engine and gearbox the whole lot was done. Car is Condition 1 in other words perfect
BUT
What is the value because I have sent off all rebuild phots and 8 phots of car and it does look superb, should say car is orig RHD manua,l wires and red
I have looked in 3 mags
1. values it at 30k
2. valued at 38k
3 valued at 45 to 60k

that's a hell of a price difference. I tend to look on prices Classic car ads and e bay for realistic prices

I will let you know what Admiral say the cars value is when they let me know

Isn't this question the wrong way round? How can you have just bought a nee policy (or Admiral offered a policy?) without defining the risk - a large part of which is the insured value?

So how much cover have you bought for ?147?

How does that compare with the value Footman James had on the car?

It does not seem to matter much about agreed value - premiums do not vary much if your car is valued at ?50k or ?150k. The actuarial charts probably show that people with a ?150k car are very risk averse and don't leave it out of sight. If a car is worth ?500 owners do not really gives a toss if it is damaged although a claim for whiplash will make their day.

Do not use Adrian Flux. I have been waiting for agreed value confirmation for six weeks, despite many phone calls only to be told agreed value department is processing information.

I had exactly the same problem with Adrian Flux. Useless. Went to Admiral and like them. Have a multi policy with all cars on, all renewing at same time

Admiral seem to be aggressively targeting the classic car market with very attractive rates however they don?t seem to have thought it through.

My Porsche 911 is insured with Classicline, the renewal cost was ?270 for an agreed value of ?35k.

Admiral quoted ?160 plus ?16 to agree a value of ?45k (Porsche prices have gone silly!).

I was tempted but the problem with Admiral and their associated companies are that it isn?t a proper classic policy, so it doesn?t cover things like club events, track days, right to the salvage in a claim etc. The sales guy didn?t inspire me with any confidence that they understood classic cars.

So I went back to Classicline and they agreed to match the price and the new value, which was great.

Classicline for my S3 with agreed value of ?35k is ?110 by the way.

So I suppose I'm just saying that you need to be really clear what the policy covers and if it right for you.

Fwiw I'm with Adrian Flux and my last renewal was ?161, with a ?40k agreed value, 3k mileage limit, garaged, inc club rallies and car shows but no track day or speed or time trial etc cover. I've only got two years NCB as all my previous motors were on a fleet policy.
