#1 Passenger Door Mirror - Convex or Flat?? S3 Roadster

Post by TMC29L » Thu Feb 16, 2023 10:29 am

I want a passenger door mirror for driving on the continent and am about to order Barratt's LH swan neck type. The only question is flat or convex? Anyone done this and know which is best?

I fitted one to my TR4A about 15 years ago and it was next to useless (and am thinking that was a flat one but can't remember) so don't want to make the same mistake again.

I see Fosseway do a clip on type (for half the price) but thinking that may be a bit odd on the S3, as I have the original door mounted one on the driver's side. Am I wrong?

Help....I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure

I've got the Fosseway clip on mirror; you do have to do bit of modifying to get it to clip on securely (at least you did on my car!)
Had to choose flat or convex with Fosseway - I went convex and I think the right decision. Fosseway recommended convex to me. Better field of view.

Same here went for convex both sides and it is as good as could be on an E. I first did try a flat one and the view field was far too narrow.

Thanks Malcolm, I was thinking convex. Barratt's said nearly everyone orders flat, which is what stopped me but I think you are right.

Hmm, I'm not sure either. But you can ring them to order on +44 1386 426249 if that helps.

Hmm, je ne suis pas sûr non plus. Mais vous pouvez les appeler pour commander au +44 1386 426249 si cela vous aide.
