#1 S3 fuel pump inline fuse

Hi,
I'm trying to locate the live feed to my S3 fuel pump somewhere behind the dash in order to insert an inline fuse; according to the wiring diagram it appears to be unfused - aaargh!, fed by a plain white wire from the ignition switch and with a junction which also feeds various warning lights and the ignition circuit. I could put the fuse in the boot near the pump but it would seem more sensible to place it as far upstream in the wiring as possible.
The wiring looms are original (42 years old now but in reasonable condition from what I can see) so I'm loathe to go poking about too much, so if any fellow S3-ers can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. (Marek, I think you probably know where I need to look based on your post here: viewtopic.php?t=8361)
Many thanks,
