Some of you may recall a discussion on the car Sherwood Restorations have for sale: http://tinyurl.com/q5bu9n Absolutely amazing machine and probably one of the best developed E-Type 'evolution' cars I have ever seen. It is literally as new, massively powerful and not for the feint hearted - you can spin it on a dry road!

The engine was developed by AJ6 engineering and they have produced a downloadable guide (?20) for any one else who wants to do the same: http://www.jagweb.com/aj6eng/efi_conversion.php I spoke briefly to the people at AJ6 and they are convinced the EFI route is the way to go with the V12 and a Weber conversion should be avoided. AJ6 are based in Macclesfield and are worth giving a call if you are contemplating converting your V12: 01625 573556

Just for your information, this engine was not developed by AJ6 Engineering, but the Intake units are modified by them and so was the ECU. I rebuilt this car when I worked for M & C Wilkinson, for the then owner Geoff Davidson. It was a brand new crate engine, which was fitted with modified Intakes & Throttle bodies. New electronic ignition system (as fitted to XJS) and AJ6 Engineering straight-through exhaust system. We were told at the time that the engine would produce at least 450 BHP and of that I have no doubt. This is a fairly straight-forward conversion, with the only difficulty being the water rails at the line up in a different position from the carb type. The only other alteration is the air filters, which we used XJS ones which were modified for the larger throttle bodies and the the exterior so they did not catch the frames or bonnet. I have many photographs of the car being rebuilt, if anyone is interested.

From 318 bhp to 450 bhp is a very impressive increase in power by just changing the inlet and exhaust bolt-ons. Surely some cam and valve improvements were made to obtain that? I'm very excited if not!!

It's a stunning looking car and with the extra power would be a lot of fun, especially with the longer wheelbase of the S3. Nice controllable tail-out driving.

Please bear in mind that this car has a 6.0 litre engine from an X300 XJ12. The inlet tracts are flowed and tuned with large throttle bodies, remapped ECU and fully tuned, 4 pipe, straight through exhaust. No cam or valve changes at all.

Having only done a short road test with the car, all I can tell you is, it's an awsome car, with breath-taking acceleration. It has 16in x 7.5 in Stainless wire wheels fitted with very low profile tyres, I can't remember exactly what sizes, but if memory serves the rears are 245 x 35 x 16 with the fronts at 225

Thanks for the corrections and update on this unusual car. If you have more photographs they would be most welcome here.

Hello Jag Cats and welcome to the forum. Is your name Les by any chance?

Sorry George, I know a chap called Les who runs a firm called Jag Cats.

We're about to EFI a customers car in January. In the name of sience I will get a BHP reading before and after.

It currently has an E-type engine with HE heads 11:1 and is fitted with SU's.

Should be interesting to see the exact difference.

Tried Google cache but it is showing 'Sold' as of 21 November.

Fast car but quite a handful - both previous owners spun it on a dry road apparently.
