#1 FHC interior trim details

Post by paulsco » Fri Jan 18, 2019 11:15 am

Hi,

The interior of my 65 car was far from original when I bought it.
I am now in the process of retrimming it and I thought I would do it the hard way by buying materials instead of a trim kit.

Can I ask a few questions:

Is the back of the upstand behind the seats trimmed on both sides?
If the rear side is painted I assume it is painted black?

I bought some second hand used but original boot boards. When fitted, there is more than a 1/2" gap between the board over the tank and the board over the spare wheel. Is this normal ( I have already trimmed the wheel arches)?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
All the parts you can see when you are inside the car are covered.
If I understand well, the back side of the upstand behind the seats ( the part with hinges ) is trimmed both side.
The boot board are side/side in their jonction with very small gap
Hope it help you

Hi Mich,

Thanks for your reply.
I mean the metal front piece that the folding board sits on to create a box.

Regards,

Paul,
That part is covered with vinyl outside and "in the box" with a sort of velvet but somebody could correct me.
What I'm sure is that inside the finish state isn't paint.
It's like a big glove box, so it must be trimmed everywhere.
I look at the "B.A.S." web site they call the back part n°18 "Cubby Box Hardura Mat"
The parts n°19 and 20 are for the two side of the front part of the box.

I don't know if it's clear for you...

Mitch,

I have (18)the hardura mat; it sits at the bottom of the 'box'.

(20) is the lower bulkhead.

It is (19) cubby box upstand I am having trouble with. I know on my car it should be vinyl covered on the outside,

but is it also covered with vinyl on the inside?

1/2 m of vinyl could quite possibly cover both sides??

Hi Paul,
I hadn't the car near me so it was by memory and I was faulty.
I just check and the part which is covered with vinyl outside is not covered inside. It's painted gloss black.
Sorry, I did this there's a long time now.

Hello,
Just looking at your hinge board,it appears to me that you have the early 3.8 one. Which is is likely to be for a flat floor car? I could be wrong, but if it is it will not line up correctly .
