VSP Plus in Shell Max petrol
#1 VSP Plus in Shell Max petrol
At the moment I am putting VSP Plus in with Shell Max petrol at 1 bottle to 40litres of fuel. Is this correct or should you only use VSP Plus when using lower grade unleaded petrol.

I run mine on Shell Optimax without adding any booster. Try it and see how the engine runs. Keep the booster in the boot though - you can't always get the 98 octane stuff.Tony wrote:At the moment I am putting VSP Plus in with Shell Max petrol at 1 bottle to 40litres of fuel. Same here and I have a 9.5:1 compression ratio. In extremis I have used 95 octane and providing you don't cane it there has been no problem. There is a lot of misinformation about octane enhancers but my research suggests you need a hell of a lot of it added to make any difference. Some of the discussion is here: http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... ght=octane
Basically it is hugely expensive and of little value in a road car especially when you can buy Super-unleaded.

Shell v-power is 99ron and should not need adatives, you can also buy 99ron unleaded from Tesco which ive used and found to be ok,

Hi
I tried the new tesco 99 momentum in my 3.8. It ran badly seemed to lack power in mid range unless throtle slowly pressed disliked steep hills and coming off power traffic lights or roundabouts engine would die.As soon as i filled up with shell v power again back to normal,I dont know if its happened to any one else ?

I can see I have opened a topic already well rehearsed in past topics with no firm conclusions. It would seem that unless you feel some definite advantage by using an additive (psychologically or not) then they are a waste of money. I shall try mine without, just using Shell Optimax and see what happens.
If there is a big bang, then you will know it did not work.
