I agree with Steve3.8

RH was the best value I could find and with return of salvage in case of total loss.

Agreed value based on photographs and valuation from the restorer. Took a few days only and cost an extra fiver ½ way through the year.

Excellent service with no cost to advise I'm taking the car for European travel.

Hi
Just reinsured with Lancaster
MGA, MGB, Frogeye, split screen VW camper, midget and 62 E-Type coupe (agreed value for the Etype £130,000...v reasonable I thought)
All for £850...seems ok?
Does that seem reasonable?

I've just renewed mine and tried to get track day cover included. Footman James gave a sensible quote to include it, Peter James would charge a lot, but what they both emphasised is that Participant to Participant Liability is not included. So if you stuff your pride and joy into someone's recently restored £250,000 flat floor OTS then you'll be paying out of your own pocket :seeingstars:

And you'll be chasing whoever stuffs into yours!

Also, a little point is that PJ's cover says "not for travelling to a permanent place of business". Be careful if you decide to take your pride and joy to the office one day, best tell them you were actually on a day off and only passing the place when the accident happened

Does it specifically exclude the Nurburgring?

Standard policy is usually no business use which includes not driving to and from your normal place of work.....even if you go to a different place each day its still classed as your place of work.....you need to add business cover to the policy....dosnt usually cost much unless you carry tools or equipment for work.....Steve

I was in a rush to insure a newly acquired V12 Roadster after buying the car from auction. Went on to the compare sites, gave my valuation and ended up with L.V. I'm happy as we have a couple of other cars with them.
Interesting reading above posts.

It’s not just about the small print. Obviously you have to happy with the cover you are offered. There is, however, another aspect to this. What if you have a claim? I have always dealt with Peter James. Dealing with him direct when a concours S2 was written off, I got paid out in full within a few days. So make sure whoever you deal with you are going to get a very personal service. That’s another reason I never buy my other insurance on line. I use a broker, and I get looked after in the event of a problem.
