#1 What do these bits do??

Post by mach2andy » Thu Apr 16, 2020 10:04 am

The 2 pictures are taken looking up at the rear edge of my roof. You can see the hole where the rear courtesy light locates. My question concerns the 2 metal strips that are secured with a number of ST screws. These strips are obviously trim related, or maybe not? I'm assuming that the cloth covering of the rear section of the cant rail tucks under the rear edge of these strips. And possibly the power supply to the courtesy light? But why are they removable? Or is it that screws were the only viable way to fit them in the factory?
Anyway, your input is appreciated as ever.

Your images are so small it is hard to tell what we's looking at. There's no need.

If they have a serrated rear edge, then they serve two functions. On a S1, they go over the plastic seal/trim that goes around the rear hatch opening. This pic may help.

Second, on my S1, they are covered in foam and then trimmed using the same material as the headlining, similar to the front screen finisher. You tuck the material between those pieces and the roof and then stretched over them and tucked under the rear serrated edges.
