7E is the correct prefix for a 4.2 , and there are engines which start 7E 11000 etc. It would be an engine made towards the end of S1 production, probably in 1967

The exception to this is 2+2 cars which had engines starting 7E 50001 as i recall

Yes, 7E1001 onwards for 4.2 litre E Types. Firstly four digits then five digits from March 1967.
So 7E11xxx quite feasible.
My car was manufactured 3rd May 1967 and is one of the very last 60 Series 1 built. The engine number is 7E 13254-9.
Another check and cross reference is to see the casting date on the block. This date is cast into the block in a xx-xx-xx fashion within a cast rectangle near the sump joint and just in front of the dipstick. This should pre date the manufactured date of the car, unless a later block was fitted subsequently.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Jeff,

I just read your post on the engine,

I have the same problem, I should have engine 7E11043-9 in my car but I have 7E10711-9 (332 numbers before mine 🙂 )

you wouldn't by any chance have my engine and I yours?

kindly,
Kevin

Just seen this post, my car 1E1817 has Engine number 7E 13154-9 exactly 100 before yours and built only 2 days before on 1st May 67.
