I'm about to embark on removing the radiator to have it re-cored. All seems relatively clear. I notice that there are two pipes at the bottom of the radiator which have to be removed. I understand these to be for oil cooling but I'm not sure if this is engine or gear box cooling (the latter I guess). Also when I take them off will they contain oil or water? Perhaps a stupid question I know but I hate surprises. If its oil will it be under pressure and form a huge puddle on the floor so the whole system will need refilling. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Chris

They will be for transmission oil (the engine oil cooler is an integral water/oil cooler under the engine). The amount that will dribble out varies by fill status, time since last running, level of ground car is sitting on or how it's jacked up etc. Nose up is better than nose down or level. Have a drip tray ready that's able to contain a litre or two, but if you are prepared for quickly plugging the hoses or tying them up as high as you can manage, then you won't lose much except from the radiator. If you just let them hang loose you could lose a lot. If you haven't replaced the gearbox fluid for a while you might as well let it drain and also take the proper drain plug out and fill with fresh ATF.

Thanks for the offer Pete. A lovely thought but neither my pocket nor my capabilities could stand it. I'm having enough trouble understanding the mechanics of the E Type as it is! They seem to defy logic.
