#1 OTS Centre windscreen mirror rod screws?

Post by Dawnpatrol » Mon Jan 24, 2011 10:21 am

I'm struggling to find a pair of screws that attach the boss at the top of the mirror rod to the windscreen top chrome finisher on my 1961 OTS. The Jaguar Pt numbers are BD20861/1 from plate 43-15 of the parts manual. Barrats and Robey don't do them.
Has any body a picture they could upload and or better still what the thread size is?
Anybody any experience of a good source?
Thanks
Mike

Managed to sort the problem my self in the end. :o
I case anybody was wondering the answer is a 2BA Pan head about 1/2 inche long. At least that is what the thread is now if it wasn't quite that before.

Can't get to the car to check but it sounds like they may be 10-32 UNF being as 2BA is around 31 tpi and will fit fairly well. BA is mostly used with the electrics and 2BA particularly with SU carbs. I think I used 10-32 s/s pan heads for the mirror rod.

Bit late now but David has just updated the "Knowledge Base | Technical Guides" with a spreadsheet that gives the breakdown on fasteners.

That's like telling someone who doesn't know to read the instructions - how is that going to help?

OK chaps, thanks for the reply anyway. As an aside if you order the 4 screws that attach the centre toggle to the hardtop from SNG, (they are listed as two different lengths in the parts manual) then you get two that fit and two that don't, thread significantly too large and both types the same length. Just a heads up if anybody else is working in the same area. I've mentioned this and a couple of other wrong items to them recently but they are low cost so not worth sending back.
