I am about to re-assemble my pedal box after adjusting the pedal bends from LHD to RHD.
My question is. Should I fit the pedal return spring (C19010 or C25506 since original is NLA) or not. It appears not to have been fitted on RHD 3.8 cars but it was on LHD. Why would that be the case? Are there any benefits or otherwise arising from fitting it?
Any experience sharing would be most welcome.
Regards

#2 Re: Clutch Pedal Return Spring
I have always fitted return springs on RHD cars.
I'm not sure what leaving it out would do but if nothing else it probably stops the pedal from rattling.

It was definitely fitted on my March ‘62 OTS...although broken...I obtained a new one from SNGB which fits and functions just fine

I was surprised to hear that they weren't fitted to LHD cars, although this backed up at least on the SNGB site when I looked.
It's hard to be sure but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a S1 LHD car without one and I must have stripped over a dozen of them. As with yours though they are usually broken.

#5 Re: Clutch Pedal Return Spring
I think it was the RHD cars that didn't have the return spring, LHD did. This is what I've gathered from the spare parts catalogue although I may have been confused by the format of it. It could possibly have been fitted too all cars, it would make more sense if it was.
I've rebuilt my pedal box today with the RHD shaped pedals and a clutch return spring fitted and it all seems fine.

I agree. That's what the catalogues say. You are 100% correct.Series1 Stu wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:59 pmI think it was the RHD cars that didn't have the return spring, LHD did. This is what I've gathered from the spare parts catalogue
I'd still fit one though..

Thanks Andrew. Yes, I fitted one. Seems fine.
On rebuilding the pedal box I seem to have mis-placed spacer C17240, can anybody give me dimensions so I can make a replacement please?
