#1 Luggage board pegs/pins BD10958

Post by ChrisCtype » Sat May 22, 2021 2:53 pm

Does any one know if the aftermarket pegs for the luggage boards are the same threads as the originals as both mine have sheared off. I have managed to remove the old thread from the washer nuts using heat so I have replace these on the board but before I recover I wanted to know the threads of these after market ones
thanks
Chris

Hi Chris
These people stock a wide range of this sort of hardware. As well as the pins, I think they stock the captive nuts as well.

https://www.bresco.com/acatalog/Latches_and_Studs.html

I spoke to them once and they were very knowledgeable.

Also, these people may be able to help

Andy
thanks for the link some useful stuff there.

I might end up repairing the pin by tapping it as I have removed the sheared thread from the captive nut and replaced it back on the board, so hopefully I can continue recover my luggage board.

I had hoped someone may have had the same issue as myself and knows the answer to the original post

thanks again

Hi Chris
Give Bresco a ring tomorrow. I'm positive they'll give you a definitive answer.

Think the originals were 2BA.......as some suppliers provide the stud and retainer as a unit they could be useind a different thread

Hi Chris,
the aftermarket assembly in my parts bin is from SNGB and includes a shakeproof washer and the nut. I bought it in 2018 and the thread is UNF 10-32 (3/16 UNF)

Chris, I’ve got some spares in the garage ( god knows where) I’m not sure of the thread but if I can find them you can have them.

Shown here as 2BA thread....would look very similar to 3/16 https://www.bresco.com/acatalog/2BA-Bal ... F187P.html

So, some of those bits you know have but where?
Right - start the search, are they in the 2 bookshelves of spares- no
Are they in the plastic draws where I keep all the spare threaded bits, washers etc - no
Are they in the old kitchen cupboards now doing steering service for other stuff -no
Are they in the 2 plastic boxes of spare bits hidden under the bench - no

Dammit they must be somewhere

Are of course they are in the other plastic box next tins of old paint and a spare tyre for a car I no longer own.

Success!

I really must have a good clear out sometime

But of course I know where everything is !
