#1 Hello

Post by paulrobinson2010 » Tue Jun 15, 2021 7:48 pm

Hi all

After lurking around for a few months and finding lots of invaluable information on the forum I thought I'd say hello.

I'm based in the North West near Nantwich and have just inherited my fathers 2+2 LHD E-Type (1969) He originally imported it around 30 years ago from the US but due to work it sat in his garage at home for around 20 years.

After retiring he finally found the time to partially restore it around 10 years ago and has used it regularly for the last few years, but ill health has meant it's time to pass it on so I can finish the restoration and ferry him around for a change :-)

I've a lifetimes experience spending way too much money and time on classics so be prepared for lots of questions and requests for opinions on parts and upgrades I probably don't need.

Paul, welcome to the best place for all things E Type and the best and friendliest advice, help and occasional banter.
Ask your questions and heed the advice and you’ll get the car running nicely.

Good luck

Hello Paul
Welcome. This area is getting to be an E Type hotspot - Church Lawton, Crewe, Sandbach, Congleton, Lach Denis and now you. May even be more that don't immediately come to mind.

Hi Paul.

Welcome to a great place to be. You're going to love that car. It looks great.

I'm also based near to Nantwich, on the Whitchurch side so if you need anything, you can contact me through this forum. Although it sounds like you have plenty of experience in classics so maybe I'll contact you! :scratchheadyellow:

Regards
Stuart

I'll keep my eyes peeled when I get the car back on the road and try to head to a local meet up.

It's an ideal location with the peak and wales on the doorstep, one of my favourite loops is the Mac /Cat and fiddle run.

Hi Stuart

Good to meet you. It seems like there are a fair few members nearby which is really helpful.

So far I love how easy it is to work on the car. It reminds me of my old mk 2 spitfire / so much access when the bonnet is off.

My head is currently in about three different service manuals and I'm gradually working through the front end trying to understand what's been changed from standard on the car.

Happy to help where I can just give me a couple of years to get up to speed

Hi Paul, lovely car with a great family connection!

Welcome along to the forum - although the E-type Club and Forum are separate entities, we regularly advertise Club events in the Derbyshire/Cheshire region which my mate and I run. We are aiming to have at least one run a year up in the Cheshire region and would have done this year and last... This is in addition to our annual "High Peak Run" in the Peak District which has seen upwards of 20 cars the past few years.

Although we are over in the Chesterfield area, we have members come from all over, the last High Peak Run had Cheshire members, some down from bits of Staffordshire, so you'd be more than welcome.

Cheers
