Hello,
I would like to introduce myself as a new member. I am based in Kingston Jamaica and have been restoring a 1961 roadster 850177 for 4 years now and I can now finally see the end in sight. I wish I had found this forum earlier as it would have saved me a lot of time and trouble. Some great advice and it has put me straight on a few topics already.
As a side note I came across an OBL e type on the island recently, in atrocious condition chassis #850081, a lot of parts missing and maybe too far gone for restoration. But trying to purchase it other wise it will disappear.
Regards
Tom

Tom, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Lots of friendly help and advice, even when you’re close to being roadworthy do still ask away. Do you have to get it through any test to drive it? Remembering a few tatty vehicles on Jamaican roads makes me wonder if there is.

Post photos of your car when your ready and don’t always show it in brilliant sunshine with the azure Caribbean Sea in the background

Good luck buying that other E. You never know what could be done with it.

Happy motoring

Thank you for the welcome,

As for being close to being roadworthy some may say I am being a bit optimistic, the bodywork is completed and assembly has started. I bought the car in boxes so putting things together requires a lot of reference so I am sure the forum can assist. Interior should be on the island tomorrow from John Skinner but not quite at that stage yet!
As to your question Geoff re vehicle testing, for vehicle testing in Jamaica vehicles by law need to be inspected each year, but very rarely does a vehicle actually get inspected, normally a "lunch money" is sent to the inspector and the paper work comes back. Similar system in place for speeding!
If your over this way again Malcolm please get in touch and the same for any other members.
